William Wallace Dickens III, better known as Wilbur Dickens, died Friday, June 7 from complications following surgery.
Dickens was born and raised in Danbury where he spent the majority of his life working in the sign industry after his many failed attempts at becoming a Harlem Globetrotter.
His true occupation was providing comic relief. His family thinks he may have missed his true calling on the stage, trading it for his love of neon.
He was a son, uncle, brother, cousin, friend. Survivors include sisters, Claudia and Carla; nieces and nephews, Maurica, Kirsten, Kilah, Travis, Timothy, Tessa; grandnephews, Nicholas, Trevon, Christian, James, and Elijah; and his lifelong friends. He is predeceased by his parents Willam and Elaine Dickens, dog Terry.
A celebration of life gathering will be held Thursday, June 13 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Danbury Memorial Funeral Home, 117 South St.
